Blog Interview
I have always wanted to live a better life. I never thought the 9-5 life was for me. People who have inspired me the most have been Tyler Perry, Eric Thomas and Diddy. Me being a new blogger, like most of us in this class, would like to make a living doing this. When Dr. Clark told us about adopting a blog and interviewing the blog, I thought it was awesome to get tips on someone who is already successful doing it. How I found the person the interview was kind of random due to seeing Revolt TV retweet a tweet Jen Deleon made. I saw she had a blog and checked it out. I was impressed and decided I had to interview her.
Jen has been blogging since middle school and has always loved writing. I feel that is important because you have to love writing to have a great blog. Writing has always been an escape for her and loves being able to inspire others with her blog posts. This statement was powerful because I feel the same way when I talk to people everyday. I challenge that all of us look to inspire at least one person a day. If you do that you can change the world.
The main reason I like Jen’s blog so much is that she puts a lot of her personal stuff out there. Most blogs I read you barely get to know the person behind the blog. Jen does this without sacrificing the content on the blog. Her blog isn’t boxed into one niche and she doesn’t write for hits on her blog.
Her blog is ranked in the top 900,000 in the United States according to the Alexa rankings. She gets about 3,000 unique visitors and around 10,000 hits a month. She mentioned that if she blogged daily those numbers would be much higher.
She also works for Skee.TV and HotNewHipHip.com. Her advice to any blogger is to be consistent and update your blog at least twice a week. She also mentioned that you should speak what interest you and not because you think it will do numbers for you. I wish I had more time to interview her, but she gave a lot of great answers that hopefully will help all the new bloggers out there. I would love to interview her again, but more on what has made her successful as a young businesswoman.
